Mission Statement

The vision of the Melanoma Institute Australia is to minimise the impact of melanoma on society.

It is the purpose of the MIA to be the leading centre for melanoma research, clinical care and training in the world and to use this position to lessen the incidence of melanoma related deaths in the community.

Melanoma is distinctly an Australian disease and is the most common form of malignancy in the population aged 15-39 years, and the third most common overall. The MIA is uniquely placed to minimise the impact of melanoma on society through the alignment of exceptional group of people and resources.

The MIA hopes to continue to be a base for leadership in melanoma treatment, research and education, with outstanding resources, expertise, a legacy of forty years knowledge and a culture of excellence.
