SUMMARY:Melanoma March 2023
DESCRIPTION:Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is calling on all Australians to step up and join its 2023 Melanoma March campaign\, to support ground-breaking research and raise awareness about the disease that claims one Australian life every six hours. \nMIA’s Melanoma March events will be held in every state and territory during March 2023. Organised by volunteer committees impacted by melanoma\, the local events raise vital funds for melanoma research as well as provide an opportunity for patients and families to come together to support each other and remember those lost to the disease. \nWe urge Australians to sign up to help us tackle this disease\, which is known as Australia’s national cancer. \nAustralia has the highest melanoma rates in the world\, with one person diagnosed every 30 minutes and one person dying from the disease every 6 hours. It is also the most common cancer affecting 20-39 year old Australians. Currently\, 50% of advanced melanoma patients don’t respond or become resistant to new immunotherapy treatments. \nMelanoma March events are a family-friendly 4km walk. Most events are pram and wheelchair accessible\, and most are dog friendly. \nThose who can’t attend an event can still support the campaign by getting active and hosting a March Your Way activity with friends or individually. \nPlease click on the website link below to find out more about your local event. \nFIND YOUR NEAREST MARCH\, REGISTER NOWCost to Register: \nCosts to attend a physical event are: \n\nAdults (over 18 years) $40\nChild (5-17 years) $20\nChild (under 5) Free\nFamily deal: Register 2 x Adults and up to 5 Children (5-17 yrs) for $100. SUMMARY:Melanoma March
DESCRIPTION:Melanoma March is MIA’s flagship annual fundraising event. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID\, we are excited to welcome our dedicated community back to physical events across the country. This year’s event aims to raise $1 million to support a Personalised Immunotherapy Clinical Trial. \nThis will be the 11th year of Melanoma March\, and it remains a critical fundraiser to support our life-saving research under the leadership of Professor Georgina Long AO and Professor Richard Scolyer AO and our many collaborating institutions. \nMajor breakthroughs in treatment have been made over the past decade. However\, about 50% of advanced melanoma patients do not respond\, or become resistant\, to immunotherapy. This year we have a fundraising target of $1m to support a world-first Personalised Immunotherapy Clinical Trial. \nRegister now for your local event\, or of you can’t attend a local event you can ‘March Your Way’. \nNSW\nWagga – 13 March\nCrescent Head – 20 March\nManly – 27 March\nTamworth – 27 March\nWestern Sydney – 1 May \nACT\nCanberra – 13 March \nVIC\nMelbourne – 20 March \nQLD\nSunshine Coast – 6 March\nTownsville – 20 March\nBrisbane – 21 May\nCoolangatta – 29 May \nWA\nBunbury – 13 March\nDenmark – 19 March\nPerth – 27 March \nSA\nAdelaide – 27 March \nTAS\nHobart – 20 March \nNT\nDarwin – 26 March \nTogether we can take steps to beat melanoma. \n#MelanomaMarch \nMelanoma March is an initiative of Melanoma Institute Australia\, incorporating melanomaWA and Amie St Clair.
