SUMMARY:Australian Melanoma Research Foundation Research Grants
DESCRIPTION:The AMRF will continue to support the next generation of melanoma researchers in Australia by providing research grants to post-graduate students and early career researchers. \nThe AMRF will fund research that contributes to the understanding and prevention of melanoma. The number of grants awarded in 2026 will depend on the quality of the applications and the funds requested. The AMRF will be selective in the research it supports. Any proposal to the Foundation for research funding will need to be contestable and show evidence of scientific merit within the national context. \nThe aim of the AMRF’s grants scheme is to support high quality research that is not fully funded through other grant schemes or from other sources.  AMRF funds are to be applied to offset the direct costs of the research. DESCRIPTION:The Ramaciotti Medal is an annual award of $50\,000. SUMMARY:The Viertel Charitable Foundation Clinical Investigator Awards
DESCRIPTION:Establishment grants for Clinical Investigators have been initiated by the Foundation in order to stimulate and encourage clinical research in Australia. In particular the grants are intended to assist new investigators to establish their research programs at the time of the difficult transition from doctoral and post-doctoral training posts to their first definitive clinical positions in an academic environment. Clinical Investigators are awarded a once only grant of $90\,000. \nEligible applicants will be medical graduates or graduates of other clinical disciplines who have completed both their clinical and research training which will normally be at doctoral level and are commencing their first definitive clinical position\, or have been in such a post for no more than 36 months on 1 May of the year of application. \nApplicants should be actively engaged in clinical work and pursuing health and medical research in a university clinical department\, a teaching hospital\, a clinical research unit of a research institute or in an academic general practice setting. The applications will be judged predominantly on the quality of the applicant’s track record and career achievements to date. DESCRIPTION:The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Scholarships scheme funds successful applicants to attain a research based postgraduate degree – Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Research Masters Degree. \n\nIt aims to support these outstanding health and medical graduates early in their career so they can be trained to conduct research that is internationally competitive and develop a capacity for original independent research within Australia. \nThe intended outcome of the Postgraduate Scholarships scheme is increased research capacity within Australia. \nPostgraduate Scholarships may be funded by\, or in conjunction with\, other organisations. SUMMARY:NHMRC Partnership Projects
DESCRIPTION:The Partnership Project funding scheme provides funding and support to create new opportunities for researchers and policy makers to work together to define research questions\, undertake research\, interpret the findings and implement the findings into policy and practice. \n\nPartnership Projects create partnerships among decision makers\, policy makers\, managers\, clinicians and researchers and answer a specific research question to influence health and wellbeing through changes in the delivery\, organisation\, funding and access to health services. \nPartnership Projects will support collaborations\, within the Australian context\, that translate research evidence into health policy and health practice\, to improve health services and processes. \nThe objectives of the Partnership Project scheme are to: \n• Meet the need for more effective integration of research evidence into health policy and service delivery\n• Create partnerships among policy makers\, managers\, service providers and researchers\n• Provide support to answer often complex and difficult questions that policy makers\, managers and service providers face when making decisions and implementing policies that affect Australians’ health and health care\n• Be highly responsive to the priorities of government\, the community and health professionals\n• Enable applicants to apply for funding at any time during the year to allow researchers and Partner Organisations to develop timely collaborations. \n\nKey Dates for Peer Review Cycle 2:\nApplications open: 19 March 2026\nNHMRC-approved Administering Institutions waiver due: 8 July 2026\nMinimum data due: 22 July 2026\nApplications close: 5 August 2026\nPeer review meetings: 17-19 November 2026 \nKey Dates for Peer Review Cycle 3:\nApplications open: 23 July 2026\nNHMRC-approved Administering Institutions waiver due: 14 October 2026\nMinimum data due: 28 October 2026\nApplications close: 11 November 2026\nPeer review meetings: 2-4 March 2027 \nSEE GRANT GUIDELINESSEE WEBSITE
