SUMMARY:MRFF National Critical Research Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 National Critical Research Infrastructure initiative invests in research infrastructure to ensure Australian researchers find innovative solutions to complex health problems in areas of unmet medical need. This grant opportunity has four streams. \nStream 1 – Innovation enablers\nAddress an area of unmet medical need by promoting the development and implementation of new research infrastructure by supporting development and/or expansion of research enablers such as biobanks\, tissue repositories\, novel platforms\, and secure health data environments to create valuable research resources. \nStream 2 – Digitisation of health care\nTranslate or implement innovative artificial intelligence technologies into health applications that: \n\nbenefit multiple health disciplines/areas\ninvolve consumers in the research journey to ensure the research is applicable to the needs of the Australian community; and\nincrease artificial intelligence workforce capacity and capability\, particularly in relation to health\, through cross-sector and interdisciplinary collaboration.\n\nStream 3 – Co-investment partnerships\nUtilise co-investment (cash only) with the research sector\, state and/or territory governments\, and industry\, in significant critical research infrastructure (e.g. facilities\, personnel and equipment): \n\nto support development of research capacity\, capability and/or effectiveness in an area of unmet medical need\, or\nto enable Australian research using new platforms\, systems and services in an area of unmet medical need.\n\nStream 4 – mRNA technology enablers\nLeverage and enhance emerging mRNA technologies\, platforms\, and/or equipment to accelerate development of mRNA-based vaccines and therapeutics in an area of unmet medical need. \nGrants to fund research infrastructure projects\, up to $3 million in Streams 1\, 2 and 4\, and up to $7 million in Stream 3. \nAn application may only be submitted to one of the above four streams. DESCRIPTION:Through the RACP Foundation\, we’re able to offer financial support to Fellows and trainees pursuing careers in medical research. Over 50 different fellowships\, scholarships and grants are available annually\, totalling over $2.5 million in funding. \nCareer Development Fellowships are intended for mid-career researchers who completed their research higher degree over 7 years ago and/or researchers who are not eligible for either Research Entry Scholarship or Research Establishment Fellowships. \nResearch Establishment Fellowships are available to Fellows and Advanced Trainees who want to establish themselves in a research career. \nResearch Entry Scholarships provide up to $45\,000 stipend support to Advanced Trainees and Fellows who are at the start of their research careers\, helping them undertake a Masters\, PhD or equivalent higher degree and build a foundation for a future in medical research. \nResearch Development Grants provide from $10\,000 to $30\,000 in funding for smaller research projects for beginning researchers. SUMMARY:MRFF Genomics Health Futures
DESCRIPTION:The objective of this grant opportunity is to provide grants of financial assistance to support medical research and medical innovation projects that: \nStream 1 (TCR): develop genomic tools and technologies to identify genetic predisposition to cancer and improve screening and targeted intervention. Focus on increased access to genomic testing and on liquid biopsy. \nStream 2 (TCR): conduct scalable research to enhance novel gene discoveries\, increase diagnostic rates and enable disease modelling to support development of targeted therapies or prevention strategies. \nStream 3 (Incubator): develop novel methods for using polygenic risk scores to identify subgroups of the population at high risk of common and complex diseases (cardiovascular disease\, diabetes and other common and/or complex diseases). \nStream 4 (Incubator): develop novel methods for improving accuracy and usefulness of polygenic risk scores to stratify people with common cancers for surveillance and treatment (breast cancer\, colorectal cancer\, prostate cancer and other common cancers) \nStream 5 (TCR): undertake research to enhance or streamline uptake of clinical genomics into practice. \nStream 6 (Accelerator): develop and maintain infrastructure to support research collaboration by enabling data sharing\, portability\, longevity and connectivity of analysis across Australia. DESCRIPTION:We are proud to open a new Annual Grants Round in 2026\, made possible by the continued support of our community\, partners\, and fundraisers. \nThis year’s Grant Round is open to applications in the following categories: \n• Early Career Research Grant\n• PhD Scholarship\n• Prof Richard Scolyer Award for Brain Cancer Research for Early\, Mid and Senior Career Researchers \nThe Tour de Cure Grants Committee follows an ethical\, independent\, and transparent selection process when reviewing applications. \nWe are committed to funding innovation and excellence\, using our resources to support the best Australian-based projects and researchers. As a cancer-agnostic organisation\, we consider applications across all cancer types. \nDemonstrating a rigorous selection process\, choosing the strongest projects\, and maintaining sound project governance – all grant applications are assessed on merit. \nAn EOI (Expression of Interest) is required for all research grant categories listed. EOIs are reviewed in Round One by the Tour de Cure Grants Committee. Successful applicants are then invited to submit a full grant application in Round Two\, which is assessed in detail by the Grants Committee who then makes recommendations to the TDC Board for final decisions in December. \nInstitutions supporting individual researchers may submit no more than two applications per grant category. This limit applies even where an intermediary body\, such as a foundation\, applies on behalf of the researcher. The Melanoma Academy is a unique\, interactive virtual academy focused on bringing together established investigators and Scholars to develop a network of successful\, highly productive melanoma researchers in a collaborative research and career development environment. \n·        Survivorship Research Award \nThe award addresses the relatively new and underfunded area of melanoma-specific survivorship by supporting a broad range of innovative and impactful research that has the intended outcome of improving the health and well-being of melanoma survivors\, their families and/or their care partners in the near term. Proposed studies focusing exclusively on animal models or considering survival only without consideration of quality of life\, overall health and/or function are not responsive to this funding opportunity. \n·        Team Science Award \nSupports a broad range of hypothesis-driven\, multidisciplinary studies that have a short-term goal of advancing the state of the science in melanoma research and/or patient care. SUMMARY:MRFF 2022 Frontier Health and Medical Research Grant
DESCRIPTION:This grant program will support researchers to pursue big ideas to develop new products and interventions and implement these into clinical practice\, benefiting patients\, clinicians\, and the health system. \nThis grant opportunity offers funding to support medical research and medical innovation programs of research (up to $25 million per program) that deliver a ‘moonshot’ by creating a treatment for a currently serious and incurable health condition\, through a series of linked projects.
