DESCRIPTION:The CRI Lloyd J. Old STAR Program — Scientists TAking Risks — provides long-term\, flexible funding to mid-career scientists\, giving them the freedom to pursue high-risk\, high-reward research at the leading edge of cancer immunotherapy. \nThe ideal candidate is a bold\, creative scientist who embraces risk in pursuit of breakthrough insights. They are distinguished by their ability to: \n\nLeverage deep expertise and visionary curiosity to frame significant\, non-obvious questions\nDraw connections across disciplines to generate and test novel hypotheses\nPursue unconventional lines of inquiry\, even at the risk of failure\, with the potential for transformative success\n\nUltimately\, CRI STARs will advance fundamental or translational discoveries that shape the development of immune-based therapies\, broadening their impact for patients worldwide. CRI STARs not only drive innovation\, they are defining the future of cancer immunology. \nThe Lloyd J. Old STAR Program provides $1.25M over a 5 year period. Institutions will be provided indirect costs of up to 10% of the total amount awarded. SUMMARY:MRFF 2022 Frontier Health and Medical Research Grant
DESCRIPTION:This grant program will support researchers to pursue big ideas to develop new products and interventions and implement these into clinical practice\, benefiting patients\, clinicians\, and the health system. \nThis grant opportunity offers funding to support medical research and medical innovation programs of research (up to $25 million per program) that deliver a ‘moonshot’ by creating a treatment for a currently serious and incurable health condition\, through a series of linked projects. The program of research can propose to develop novel health technologies and/or re‑purpose existing health technologies in a novel way. \nThe initial application process to secure funding through this grant opportunity will be conducted in two stages: \n\nexpression of interest (EOI) – outlining a proposed program of research comprising of a series of linked projects with a 10-year time horizon\nfull application\, (invitation only – following EOI) for a project of up to 5 years under the program of research.\n\nApplicants may propose to commence research at any stage in the research pipeline from proof-of-concept\, with the intention of achieving full implementation of the proposed technology in 10 years. \nFunding for subsequent projects under the program of research that continue to progress the technology towards full implementation can be sought by submitting additional full applications to this grant opportunity (i.e. applicants do not need to recommence with an EOI).
