SUMMARY:Riverina GP Dermoscopy Workshop: Melanoma in Focus
DESCRIPTION:GPs are invited to join our dermoscopy workshop hosted by Melanoma Institute Australia. \nDermoscopy is an invaluable tool for GPs\, offering a detailed assessment of skin lesions in everyday practice. \nIn this informative half-day session\, we provide an introduction to dermoscopy\, highlighting its essential role in diagnosing and monitoring melanoma and other skin lesions within the context of general practice. \nParticipants will build confidence by gaining foundational knowledge and practical skills in identifying structures and distinguishing skin lesions\, including melanoma\, through the “Chaos and clues” algorithm. Case studies will also be presented. \nAs understanding dermatopathology is fundamentally important in comprehending dermoscopy\, our workshop will also integrate essential aspects of dermatopathology\, enriching participants’ knowledge and enhancing their ability to interpret dermoscopic findings effectively. \nJoin us to develop your understanding and refine your capabilities in dermoscopy\, contributing to more effective melanoma detection and monitoring in clinical practice. \nLearning outcomes: \n\nExplain the process and benefits for evaluating skin lesions under dermoscopy in general practice.\nRecognise the different clues to melanoma using dermoscopy.\nDescribe dermoscopic features of skin lesions using the ‘Chaos and clues’ algorithm.\nUnderstand the importance of dermoscopic histopathological correlation\n\nPresenters: \n\nA/Prof Paul Fishburn – Skin Cancer GP\, Norwest Skin Cancer Centre | Education Committee Member\, Melanoma Institute Australia | Associate Professor of Medicine\, University of Queensland\nDr Kirstin McKenzie – Histopathologist\, Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology\n\nCost: Free \nCPD: This is an RACGP-approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program (Activity No. 813691; 4 hr EA). A certificate of attendance will also be provided for 4 hours of CPD. \nREGISTER NOW
