Head of Biospecimen Bank

Nicole has over 15 years’ experience working in health and medical research as both a scientist and administrator. Nicole has a Bachelor of Medical Science with first class Honours and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medicine; both from the University of Sydney.

In her previous program management roles, she spearheaded and executed a number of health initiatives focussed on evidence-based/technology interventions that aimed to improve people’s health outcomes. As Biobank Manager for the Centre for Oncology Education and Research Translation (CONCERT), she established a cancer biobank across the South Western Sydney, Illawarra/Shoalhaven and ACT local health districts and assisted cancer researchers design, plan and submit their research studies to various human research ethics committees utilising biobank specimens. This enabled the fast-tracking of 33 cancer projects, as well as 3 clinical trials. Nicole then assumed the role of Program Manager for CONCERT where she was instrumental in developing and implementing CONCERT’s strategic operational and business plans.

As Head of Research for the Charlie Teo Foundation, she was responsible for finding new ways to solve challenges in brain cancer and her strong collaborative skills allowed her to bring together the right combination of clinician-scientists to address those challenges.

She now leads the Biospecimen Bank which underpins global melanoma research and helps fuel treatment breakthroughs and advances.
