DESCRIPTION:The 2026 MOGA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) will bring together Australian medical oncologists to reflect on a timely theme: \nReimagining Cancer Care: Is Less Doing More? \nIn recent years\, oncology has found itself at a fascinating crossroads. With ever-deepening insights into tumour biology\, immunotherapy\, molecular profiling\, and patient-centred care\, we are beginning to ask a powerful and\, at times\, uncomfortable question: Are we sometimes doing too much? \nWe are now confronting the possibility that treatment de-escalation is not just a compromise\, but potentially a pathway to more humane\, precise\, and effective care. This conversation extends well beyond protocols and guidelines. It challenges us to think deeply about patient autonomy\, shared decision-making\, and what quality of life truly means in the era of personalised medicine. \nThis ASM will bridge disciplines and perspectives—from surgical oncology to medical and radiation oncology\, to palliative care and psychosocial support. We will consider not only clinical evidence\, but also the ethical\, logistical\, and emotional dimensions of doing less. We will look at emerging biomarkers and novel drug targets that allow us to fine-tune therapy like never before.
