Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation located in North Sydney. MIA is affiliated with The University of Sydney and Macquarie University and collaborates with academic clinicians and researchers at St Vincent’s and Mater Health, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Westmead Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital and The University of Sydney to improve the outcome of patients with melanoma. Each year around 2,000 new melanoma patients are referred to MIA and approximately 20,000 follow-up visits occur. MIA has become a major referral centre for melanoma patients from NSW and overseas.

MIA is seeking a committed registered nurse to join the experienced and dedicated team of Clinical Nurse Consultants to assist in the provision and coordination of care for patients diagnosed with melanoma. The successful individual will be required to work with different surgeons, medical oncologists, pathologists, dermatologists and other health professionals affiliated with MIA, who operate private practices within The Poche Centre in North Sydney. The Centre is open to both public and private patients.

The successful candidate will assist with medical oncology but also engage in surgical and wound management, including direct patient follow-up. They will coordinate care for complex cases, especially those from rural areas or requiring specialised follow-up and support and will offer education and clinical consultancy to both healthcare professionals and patients. As a member of a leading research institute, the nurse will also have the opportunity to engage in MIA’s research and education programs.

This role is ideal for a proactive nurse with strong communication skills, experience in oncology or surgical nursing, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate should hold a nursing degree, AHPRA registration, and ideally have post-graduate qualifications (or a willingness to pursue them). Oncology experience, knowledge of targeted and/or immune therapies, and wound care expertise are desirable. Support and training will be provided by our Clinical Nurse Consultants.

This is a 12-month full-time position. The hours are primarily Monday to Friday, with no weekend or shift work.
