Melanoma Institute Australia has provided services and support in Wagga Wagga in the NSW Riverina since it merged with Amie St Clair Melanoma in 2020.

Amie St Clair Melanoma

Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust was formed by Annette and Peter St Clair in 2010, in honour of their daughter Amie, who passed away from melanoma when she was just 23 years old. Annette and Peter wanted to make a difference by raising awareness of melanoma, providing better access to specialised care for patients in the Wagga Wagga region, and supporting cancer research.

Amie St Clair

In February 2020, Amie St Clair Melanoma celebrated its 10th Anniversary, and the merger with Melanoma Institute Australia was announced. The merger provided melanoma patients in the Riverina region with strengthened and sustained melanoma services, including:

  • Increased capacity of the free melanoma nursing services;
  • The establishment of clinical trials in Wagga Wagga;
  • Opportunities for melanoma patients within the region to contribute to MIA research;
  • Melanoma Education opportunities – both professional (GPs/Clinics) and community, including the SunSafe Student Ambassador program.

New clinic opened in June 2024

In June 2024 a new MIA Amie St Clair Melanoma Clinic was opened in Wagga Wagga to further strengthen melanoma services in the Riverina. The new suite includes a 3D full body imaging machine which is part of the national Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging & Diagnosis (ACEMID) trial. It also has multiple clinic rooms and space for support group and community activities.
