The 2021 Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research recognises Prof Georgina Long’s pioneering work in immunotherapy in melanoma, transforming the care of patients worldwide.

Congratulations to MIA Co-Medical Director, Prof Georgina Long AO, who has been awarded the 2021 Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research.

Professor Long has been recognised for her pioneering work in immunotherapy in melanoma, which in addition to transforming the care of melanoma patients worldwide, has also impacted treatments for other cancers.

‘I am delighted for my long-time colleague and friend, Professor Long, with this recognition testament to her ground-breaking research which is benefiting cancer patients globally,’ said MIA Co-Medical Director Professor Richard Scolyer AO. ‘Many thousands of melanoma patients are alive today because of Professor Long’s dedication and intellect, and her work is set to provide long futures for thousands more in years to come.
