Prof Richard Scolyer AO receives University of Tasmania ‘Distinguished Alumni’ Award, honouring the exceptional impact of his work on communities around the world.

Congratulations to MIA Co-Medical Director, Professor Richard Scolyer AO, who has received the 2021 University of Tasmania Distinguished Alumni Award.

The alumni awards honour the exceptional impact the University’s alumni have on communities in Tasmania and around the world.

Launceston-born Prof Scolyer completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 1987 and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1990 at University of Tasmania.

Prof Scolyer is a world-leading pathologist who has been at the forefront of many major advancements in the treatment of melanoma, saving thousands of lives.

‘I am honoured to receive this Alumni Award, and am proud to be amongst the world-changing University of Tasmania alumni,’ Professor Scolyer said.
