About the role

As a Melanoma March Committee Lead, you will be supported by the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) events team to plan, promote, organise and implement a Melanoma March event in your region. You will also work closely with MIA’s Volunteer Program Manager to register volunteers (according to MIA’s registration processes) to join your committee to support you in the lead up to and/or on the day. (Please note – all volunteers must be registered with MIA prior to starting a role).

Commitment

The commitment required to organise a March will depend on your personal vision for the event and your capacity to organise it around your personal and work commitments.

To ensure a smooth-running event, we recommend preparations begin approx. 4 months ahead of your event, with the most commitment required in the final 4-6 weeks.

Location 

We currently seeking Volunteer Melanoma March Committee Leads for the following established events – Coolangatta and Geelong.

Or we would love to hear from you if you would like to start a Melanoma March in a new location. Please note, your March location should be more than 1-2 hours from an existing Melanoma March event.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with the MIA’s events team who can support you to:

• Secure a date, location and council application for your event
• Help you organise first aid and risk assessments
• Promote your march using MIA’s digital and print resources
• Manage/oversee set up and pack down on the day
• Bank funds received on the day
• Provide post event feedback for evaluation purposes

Tasks may include (but not limited to):

• Assembling a committee of volunteers (using MIA’s volunteer registration processes)
• Securing local catering and entertainment vendors
• Encouraging local businesses to support your event
• Sharing photos of your March with the MIA team

Requirements

Applicants must undergo a Background Check (Working with Children/Working with Vulnerable People/Blue Card). Please provide details on your application form.
