An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, organised and community-minded person to join our Wagga Wagga team in the newly created position of Practice Manager. The successful candidate will be critical to the smooth day-to-day running of MIA Amie St Clair’s newly opened clinic in Docker St Medical and will also play a role in helping organise impactful community awareness and fundraising events in the Riverina.

The role is varied, and no two days will be the same! The Practice Manager will support the Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis (ACEMID) cohort study and other patient activities in Wagga Wagga. ACEMID is a national network of 3D body imaging machines, using cutting-edge skin imaging technology to advance the detection and management of melanoma. The Practice Manager will organise appointments, update clinicians of any findings, obtain copies of pathology reports, and update study documents and research databases.

The Practice Manager will also assist with planning and running of key MIA Amie St Clair community awareness and fundraising activities, including the annual Amie St Clair Ball, the SunSafe Student Ambassador Program, and the Wagga Wagga Melanoma March.

The role is permanent part-time (0.8FTE) with capacity for some flexibility to accommodate school hours if desired.

The successful candidate will be supported locally by a clinical research assistant and melanographer and by the MIA Amie St Clair teams in Wagga Wagga and Sydney.

  • Team player
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to relate well to others and work effectively as part of a small team
  • Shows initiative and able to exercise sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
  • Competent PC skills using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, patient management software

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a clinical environment
  • Previous research project experience
  • Knowledge of medical or health terminology

About Us

Melanoma Institute Australia has been at the forefront of trying to improve and increase the availability of melanoma services in regional centres and merged with Amie St Clair Melanoma in Wagga Wagga in 2020. Since the merger, we have increased the capacity of melanoma nursing services, furthered education of the public and school students, undertaken various clinical symposiums in the region and opened melanoma clinical trials. We also recently established our new clinical site at Suite 15, 2 Docker Street, Wagga Wagga NSW. It is at this site that the ACEMID machine is located.
