World-first experimental cancer treatment paves way for clinical trial
Nature Medicine has published a peer-reviewed paper detailing the experimental glioblastoma cancer treatment developed by Professor Georgina Long AO, Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia, paving the way for a clinical trial to be conducted by researchers at The Brain Cancer Centre in Melbourne.

Roadmap for a National Targeted Skin Cancer Screening Program
Skin checks are an important tool in the early detection of skin cancers. MIA & others in the skin cancer community have advocated for a more systematic, targeted & equitable approach to skin cancer screening in Australia. As a result, the Australian Gov't has allocated $10m for development of a Roadmap for a National Targeted Skin Cancer Screening Program.
From just 16 weeks’ survival to long term disease control
Newly released long-term data from a groundbreaking clinical trial for advanced melanoma patients whose disease had spread to their brain has proven that long-term disease control has been achieved for over 50% of patients given combination immunotherapy as first line treatment.

Prof Richard Scolyer AO has announced that he has decided to step down from his role as Co-Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia. Richard has been in this role since January 2017.
