Congratulations to MIA Co-Medical Directors, Professor Georgina Long AO and Professor Richard Scolyer AO, jointly named 2024 NSW Australian of the Year.

This award is testament to their global leadership in transforming melanoma, Australia’s national cancer, into a largely curable disease and saving many thousands of lives, and their intellect and dedication in applying melanoma science to develop world-first treatments for Richard’s brain cancer.

Our congratulations also to all other NSW Australians of the Year and to all nominees, what a remarkable and inspirational group of Australians, all making an amazing contribution in their respective fields.

We are so proud!

Prof Georgina Long AO and Prof Richard Scolyer AO will now represent NSW at the national Australian of the Year awards, which will be announced in Canberra on January 25, 2024.
